Job Summary: The Senior Dental Assistant performs extra‑oral chair‑side assisting duties in all disciplines of dentistry, including emergency, restorative, pediatric, orthodontic, prosthodontics, endodontic, oral surgery, implant surgery, and periodontics. Additional responsibilities include preventive maintenance of dental equipment, clerical assignments, radiographic duties, laboratory work (molding, trimming, fabricating trays and appliances), and patient liaison functions within a fast‑paced, high‑volume environment.
Responsibilities- Chair side assistance: assist dental students, residents, and faculty with 4‑handed dentistry; place matrix bands, wedges, and retractors; maintain aseptic conditions; perform bonding, cementation, and implant procedures; follow infection control protocols.
- Instruments and instruction: clean, pack, and maintain instruments; manage implant kits; prepare sterile trays; educate and motivate patients on preventive care.
- Laboratory duties: pour prosthodontic models; trim, box, and wax impressions; fabricate crowns, case‑in‑lays, night guards, and other appliances; perform bite rim and occlusal adjustments.
- Radiography: operate X‑ray equipment, take routine and specialized radiographs; develop and mount images; document findings in electronic records.
- Moore Clinic leadership: lead dental assistants for the Moore Clinic; chart findings; schedule follow‑ups; assist with pre‑clinical course fabrication.
- Support patient outreach: provide services at health fairs and campus events; transport to off‑campus sites with mileage reimbursement.
- Other duties: keep up with ADEX and mock board requirements; perform all other job‑related tasks as assigned.
- High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent with two years of related experience.
- OR Certified Dental Assistant and/or Associate’s degree with one year of clinical experience.
- OR one year experience as a Dental Assistant at the Dental College of Georgia.
- OR Bachelor’s degree with dental knowledge.
- Bachelor’s degree with dental knowledge; graduation from a certified Dental Assisting program.
- CPR certified and Intraoral Radiographic Certification.
- At least two years’ experience in general dentistry; proficiency in mixing materials, taking X‑rays, and chair‑side assisting across multiple disciplines.
- CPR certified.
- Training in radiological safety.
- Proficient in Spanish for clinical settings.
- Certification as a Dental Surgical Anesthesia Assistant within the first year of employment.
- Minimum of two years’ previous experience, including comprehensive skills in operative, crown and bridge, removable prosthodontics, periodontics, endodontics, surgery, and pediatric dentistry.
- Dental instruments, infection control protocols, equipment, materials, and methods.
- Microsoft Office and related software/databases.
- 4‑handed dental procedures and chair‑side assisting skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communication.
- Strong organizational and interpersonal skills.
- Detailed and team‑oriented approach.
- Maintain confidentiality.
- Prioritize tasks, meet deadlines.
- Interact effectively with assistants, students, faculty, and staff.
- Good manual dexterity; lift, push, pull up to 50 pounds.
- Learn sterilization principles, procedures, equipment, and patient management software.

Pay Grade: B5
Salary:
Minimum $17.88/hour
Salary commensurate with qualifications within the established range.
