The Department of Pediatrics, Division of Pediatric Endocrinology, at the Medical College of Georgia (MCG) at Augusta University (AU) is actively seeking candidates for a full-time faculty member at the rank of Assistant Professor, Associate Professor or Professor, as a pediatric endocrinologist. This position includes responsibilities for serving in the administrative post role of Division Chief of Pediatric Endocrinology. This position is not considered to be on tenure track.

Responsibilities

Division Chief (includes Pediatric Endocrinology and Genetics)
  • Serve as Division Chief for Pediatric Endocrinology, which includes but is not limited to oversight of the following:
    • Faculty members, physician extenders, nursing support and administrative staff for the division
    • Identifying opportunities for growth of the division's clinical, research and educational programs
    • Developing individual faculty development plans for each faculty member of the division that outlines goals and expectations (education, research, and clinical)
    • Conducing annual performance reviews with each division faculty member, including written feedback regarding expectations/goals outlined in the individual faculty development plan
    • Monitoring the academic progress for divisional faculty
    • Monitoring and maintaining fund sources and exercising fiscal responsibility regarding the financial status of the Division
    • Ensuring divisional faculty members comply with clinical practice billing and documentation rules and regulations
    • Overseeing the delivery of clinical care provided throughout the division and ensuring that the quality of care delivered meets accepted standards
    • Maximizing patient access for the division
    • Ensuring the maintenance of on-call and ambulatory schedules
    • Ensuring compliance with all internal policies and procedures promulgated by the university, medical college, department, medical center and regulatory agencies

Patient Care/Service:
  • Maintain board certification in pediatric endocrinology.
  • Provide high-quality, comprehensive care in Pediatric Endocrinology in an effort to improve quality, safety and patient experience.
  • Participate in assigned clinical duties with other Pediatric Endocrinology faculty in your division. This will include, but is not limited to inpatient consultations, outpatient ambulatory practice, satellite clinics, and on-call duties.
  • Meet all metrics associated with Ongoing Professional Practice Evaluation (OPPE). This includes but is not limited to: attendance at quality meetings (e.g., M&M, Quality Unit Council, etc.), proper management of documentation, completion of all online compliance training modules, attendance at faculty meetings, etc.
  • Become increasingly productive through the provision of clinical services in pediatric endocrinology.
  • Meet and maintain wRVU productivity targets as set forth by the department chair and MCG Dean's Office through clinical services provided. Productivity targets are subject to change.
  • Promote good professional relationships and build referral patterns with Augusta University physicians and physicians outside of Augusta University (referring physicians in community, region and state).
  • Provide prompt feedback to referring physicians.
Teaching/Instruction:
  • Provide education and training to fellows, residents, medical students and staff in Pediatric Endocrinology which includes but is not limited to: clinical supervision, consultation and didactics.
  • Achieve and maintain teaching evaluation scores at or above the department mean.
  • Attend 50% or more weekly pediatric Grand Rounds presentations and monthly faculty meetings.
Required Qualifications

Candidates should have a MD/DO or equivalent, shall have completed an ACGME-approved residency program in pediatrics and fellowship in Pediatric Endocrinology, and be board-certified in pediatrics and board-certified in Pediatric Endocrinology, in addition to being eligible for medical licensure in the state of…
