The Department of Teaching and Leading in the College of Education and Human Development at Augusta University is seeking a faculty member at the rank of Assistant Professor or Associate Professor with a background in Mathematics Education (or a closely related field) for a full-time, non-tenure track position to play a crucial role in shaping the future of pre-service and in-service teacher candidates.
The expected start date for this position is August 2026.
- Teaching - 80%:
Develop and teach undergraduate and graduate courses primarily focused on teaching mathematics to PK-12 students. Teach a 4-4 load, online and on-campus. - Research - 10%:
Establish or continue a robust research agenda with potential national or international presence. Be familiar with quantitative, qualitative, or mixed-methods techniques and conduct rigorous scholarship in education. - Service - 10%:
Provide service to the department, college, university, community, and profession as appropriate.
Candidates should have earned their terminal degree from an accredited university in Mathematics Education, Curriculum and Instruction, Teaching and Learning, or a related educational field and have or have the potential to develop a rigorous line of research. Applicants who are ABD are encouraged to apply if they are expected to graduate in the summer of 2026.
- Assistant Professor – Early level career as a faculty member.
- Associate Professor – Mid level career faculty with at least five years at the rank of Assistant Professor or comparable training and experience.
- Consistent with SACSCOC accreditation requirements;
- Evidence of ability as a teacher;
- Evidence of scholarly activity and ability in all duties assigned;
- Successful experience (waived for those just entering the profession who meet all other requirements);
- Desirable personal qualities judged on interview, biographical data, and recommendations.
This position is academic year based and typically works August through May, depending on dates in the offer letter and yearly contract. The intended work commitment is 1.0 FTE.
Salary and compensation for Assistant Professor or Associate Professor are commensurate with education, experience, and achievements and subject to fund availability.
Comprehensive benefits include medical, dental, vision, sick leave, retirement plans, tuition waiver, and wellness options. Full-time employees may be eligible for the Tuition Assistance Program after six months of employment.
Rank and salary are determined at hire and based on experience, education, credentials, and market data. Advancement through the faculty ranks occurs through the annual Promotion and Tenure process.
