Job Summary
The Department of Psychiatry and Health Behavior at the Medical College of Georgia at Augusta University is seeking a faculty member at the rank of Assistant Professor, Associate Professor, or Professor, in the Psychology Service. The Psychology Service includes 11 faculty psychologists in addition to psychologists located in other departments and other affiliated institutions. Our psychology faculty represent various areas of clinical specialty including Dialectical Behavior Therapy (adult and adolescent), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, health psychology, child and adolescent psychology, LGBTQ psychology, trauma psychology, suicide prevention, and eating disorders.
The department has been part of an APA-accredited psychology internship consortium since 1983 and through the years our faculty have shared a deep commitment to our common missions of educating our future health care professionals, striving for compassionate and excellent clinical service, and advancing science.
This psychology division faculty position involves the care of adults, adolescents, and/or children in the departmental outpatient clinics. Duties would include serving as supervisor of a psychology intern/fellow clinic, as well as providing direct services without learners present in group and/or individual psychotherapy clinic. Support would also be offered for facilitating pre-clinical medical student case-based learning small groups. This position does not meet the requirements to be on a tenure track.
Responsibilities
Clinical Responsibilities - 90%
- Serving in the outpatient clinic
Teaching Responsibilities - 10%
- Teaching residents, interns, and medical students
Required Qualifications
Ph.D or Psy.
D in Clinical or Counseling Psychology
Assistant Professor - Early level career as a faculty member with appropriate post graduate training.
Associate Professor - Mid level career faculty member with at least five years at rank of Assistant Professor or comparable training, background, and experience.
Professor - Senior level career faculty member with at least five years at the rank of Associate Professor or comparable training, background, and experience.
Required faculty employment qualifications for all USG institutions and all academic ranks within these institutions shall be:
- Consistent with the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC)'s requirements for institutional accreditation;
- Evidence of ability as a teacher;
- Evidence of activity as a scholar and ability in all other duties assigned;
- Successful experience (which will necessarily be waived for those just entering the academic profession who meet all other requirements); and
- Desirable personal qualities judged on the basis of personal interview, complete biographical data, and recommendations.
Shift/Salary/Benefits
This position is fiscal year based and works year-round. The intended work commitment or full-time equivalent (FTE) for this position is 1.0 and considered full-time.
- Assistant Professor – Salary and compensation is commensurate with education, experience, and achievements. The salary is subject to availability of funds.
- Associate Professor – Salary and compensation is commensurate with education, experience, and achievements. The salary is subject to availability of funds.
- Professor – Salary and compensation is commensurate with education, experience, and achievements. The salary is subject to availability of funds.
