College/Department Information

The Medical College of Georgia (MCG) is one of the nation s largest medical schools by class size. It has a main campus in Augusta, regional clinical campuses across the state, and a secondary four-year campus in Athens in partnership with the University of Georgia. MCG collaborates with physicians and hospitals statewide, offering extensive clinical sites and postgraduate education in numerous ACGME-approved programs.

Faculty focus on cardiovascular biology, cancer, neurosciences and behavioral sciences, public and preventive health, regenerative medicine, personalized medicine and genomics. Faculty provide expertise across about 100 clinics and hospitals statewide.

Job Summary

This position acts as the primary liaison between the curriculum office and students, faculty, and support personnel in the Medical College of Georgia. Works closely with the Senior Associate Dean for Curriculum to resolve curriculum issues and to interpret, troubleshoot, and advise coordinators in matters pertaining to curriculum at all levels.

Responsibilities
  • Handles Phase 3 (all campus locations)
  • Construct and distribute good standing letters for all senior students. Enroll all students  schedules in Banner (Pounce) and One
    45 for PRN rotation. Process applications for Graduation credit requests. Work with senior students and the Director of 4th year curriculum regarding missing requirements for graduation. Manage Banner and One
    45 systems as they pertain to student enrollments, graduation dates, name changes, leave of absence data, inactive student data, etc. Prepare reports (VSAS, Student Rosters, Graduation Reports, Missing Grade Reports, and other miscellaneous reports as required).
  • Manages the Visiting Student Application Service (VSAS): ensure data accuracy in the SRS system (campus affiliations, name changes, off track students, etc.). Create, update and upload the visiting students elective catalog. Issue VSAS authorizations to rising seniors. Maintain the visiting student website. Train new faculty/staff on VSAS. Handle VSAS verification statements for each student (17 items to verify, including AHA BLS, background checks, rotation dates, Step 1 passage, etc.).

    Provide institutions with malpractice information. Coordinate with multiple internal departments to assist students in day-to-day needs (Compliance and Risk Management, Student Health, Financial Aid, Graduate Studies, IT Service, Medical Records, , Parking, Promotion Committee - graduation matters, and Public Safety). Serve as the MCG Security Administrator.
  • Extensive relations with the Registrar: collaborate on academic calendar, move off-track students between classes, Jag Trax updates/concerns/modifications, notify about students who have not applied for graduation, address transcript concerns and grade changes.
  • Extensive relations with Department Directors/Coordinators: resolve enrollment issues, dropped rotation issues, absentee issues/missing students; manage visiting student matters (reporting, absentee or professional matters, new or revised course, reporting needs, grading, access, processing and Faculty CME paperwork).
