Position: Open Rank Dentistry Faculty- Program Director, DCG-Pediatric Dentistry

Job Summary

The Department of Pediatric Dentistry in the Dental College of Georgia at Augusta University is seeking a faculty member at the rank of Assistant Professor, Associate Professor, or Professor.

The role includes patient care through the DCG Dental Faculty Practice Group to maintain practice skills and provide treatment to patients, as well as serving as Program Director for the AU DCG Pediatric Dentistry training program.

Program Director responsibilities encompass educational and research activities, administrative assistance, teaching, and mentorship for residents, faculty, and staff. Engagement in research and scholarly activities and in university or external professional or service activities is also expected.

Responsibilities
  • Perform patient care through the DCG Dental Faculty Practice Group.
  • Act as Program Director for the AU DCG Pediatric Dentistry training program.
  • Provide administrative assistance, teaching, and mentorship to residents, faculty, and staff.
  • Conduct departmental teaching in pediatric dentistry and possibly other areas as designated by the Department Chair, including lectures and seminars.
  • Engage in research and scholarly activities to meet academic promotion benchmarks.
  • Participate in university or external professional or service activities as appropriate.
Required Qualifications

A DDS/DMD degree from an ADA accredited dental school.

A valid license to practice dentistry in a U.S. state or eligibility in Georgia.

Board certification in Pediatric Dentistry.

Ability to obtain hospital privileges and a Georgia sedation license.

Minimum 5 years of academic experience.

  • Assistant Professor: early career with background, education, and training consistent with position requirements.
  • Associate Professor: mid‑level with at least five years as Assistant Professor.
  • Professor: senior level with at least five years as Associate Professor.
  • Consistent with Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC) accreditation requirements.
  • Evidence of teaching ability.
  • Evidence of scholarship and fulfillment of all duties.
  • Successful experience (waived for new academics meeting other requirements).
  • Desirable personal qualities assessed during interview and via recommendations.
Preferred Qualifications

An MS, MPH, or PhD degree and/or demonstrated potential for scholarly activities.

Shift/Salary/Benefits

This position is fiscal year based and works year‑round with a full‑time equivalent of 1.0.

Salary is commensurate with education, experience, and achievements and is subject to availability of funds. Benefits include medical, dental, vision, 13 paid holidays, vacation leave, sick leave, generous retirement plans, tuition waiver, wellness options, and more.

Full‑time employees employed longer than six months may be considered for the Tuition Assistance Program.

Rank and salary are determined at hire based on experience, education, credentials, specialty, training, internal equity, and market data.
