Assistant Professor - Physics and Biophysics
Location:
Augusta University, 1120 15th Street, Augusta, GA 30912. Full Time. Tenure-track faculty position (Assistant Professor rank).
The department of Physics and Biophysics at Augusta University invites applications for a tenure‑track faculty position. All conventional areas of physics are considered, with a preference for candidates who can contribute to the Biophysics areas and work well within a top‑ranked health sciences university.
Responsibilities- Teaching: Lecture and/or lab courses within the undergraduate physics program and core science courses (e.g., astronomy). Expected teaching load: 40% of time dedicated to teaching.
- Research: Develop an independent, novel research program; demonstrate a successful grant and publication record.
- Service: Participate in departmental, college, and university committees and work groups; support Augusta University’s mission.
- Ph.D. in Physics, Astrophysics, or a closely related field.
- Strong publication record in ranked peer‑reviewed journals.
- Evidence of teaching ability.
- Fulfillment of Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC) institutional accreditation requirements.
- Ability as a scholar and performer in all other duties assigned.
- Successful experience (waived for new faculty who meet all other requirements).
- Strong publication record in ranked peer‑reviewed journals.
- Ability to develop an independent, novel research program.
- Excellence in teaching.
This position is academic‑year based (August‑May) and FTE 1.0. Salary is commensurate with education, experience, and achievements, and is subject to availability of funds.
