Job Summary

Augusta University Libraries seeks a faculty member at the rank of Assistant or Associate Professor to serve as the University Records Manager. Responsibilities include coordinating the records management program and archives program, advising on policies, ensuring compliance with legal and state/federal requirements, and supporting faculty in scholarship.

Responsibilities
  • Develop, maintain, and support a comprehensive archives program for University Libraries.
  • Provide leadership for policies, workflows, and processes related to arranging, describing, preserving, managing, and providing access to archival materials across formats.
  • Build relationships with offices, departments, and programs campus-wide to develop, support, and promote archival collections.
  • Provide reference, research, and instruction services related to archival collections.
  • Provide leadership and expertise on records management issues to the University community.
  • Develop, implement, and maintain an institution‑wide records management program, policy, and procedures.
  • Communicate with and advise other administrative units, including University leadership, on the appropriate management and disposition of records to ensure compliance with federal and state laws and the University System of Georgia (USG) Retention Schedules.
  • Conduct scholarly research relevant to areas of responsibility or interest and disseminate through professional literature and conferences.
  • Engage in service to libraries, the university, and the profession, primarily through committee work.
  • Actively engage in professional development through attendance at conferences, workshops, and other learning opportunities.
  • Contribute to student success at the university.
Required Qualifications
  • American Library Association accredited Master’s degree, or equivalent graduate degree.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of archival theory and best practices.
  • Experience with archival metadata standards.
  • Authoritative understanding of records management principles, practices, and policies, including retention schedules.
  • Familiarity with federal, state, and local laws affecting records management (e.g., FERPA, HIPAA).
  • Assistant Professor – early career faculty member with 3–5 years experience.
  • Associate Professor – mid‑level faculty with at least five years at rank of Assistant Professor or comparable training.
  • Consistent with SACSCOC accreditation requirements.
  • Evidence of teaching ability; scholarly activity; and competence in all duties assigned.
  • Successful experience or waiver for those new to the profession who meet other requirements.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Certified Records Manager (CRM) designation.
  • Working understanding of digital records and systems.
Shift / Salary / Benefits
