Job Qualifications
- Education: A minimum of a Master's Degree in School Psychology; however, Specialist or Doctoral level training is preferred.
- Certification or Licensure: In Georgia, three levels of certification exist:
Psychometrist (Master's), Associate School Psychologist (Specialist), and School Psychologist (Doctorate). All are generally referred to as “School Psychologists.” - Skills: Knowledgeable in test administration and interpretation, child and adolescent development, learning, RtI, Positive Behavioral Supports, and Consultation.
- Work Experience: At least one year beyond internship preferred, including a 1200-hour internship emphasizing data-based decision-making, collaboration, child development, diversity, mental health, behavior, and program evaluation.
Primary Duty
This position involves supporting children's academic, social, and emotional success through collaboration with educators, parents, and professionals to create supportive learning environments.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Serve as a consultant on SST/RTI committees, providing intervention strategies and evaluating effectiveness.
- Support classroom teachers with assessments and monitoring student needs.
- Conduct psycho-educational evaluations and assist in designing interventions.
- Provide crisis intervention and classroom observations.
- Collaborate with Special Education teams and serve as a liaison to community agencies.
- Participate in professional development and stay updated on laws and regulations.
- Provide counseling, design interventions, and monitor progress.
- Ensure interventions are delivered with integrity and evaluate their effectiveness.
- Follow NASP/APA ethical codes and perform other duties as assigned.
Work Environment / Physical Demands
Moderate noise level; occasional lifting up to 25 pounds; regular talking, hearing, walking, standing, sitting.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS: Ability to work cooperatively with staff, students, parents, and community.
