GED Teacher – Part Time – YCA . Gordon

Overview

This PART‑TIME position works less than 29 hours a week. The role instructs cadets of the Youth Challenge Academy in the GED preparation curriculum. The teacher prepares lesson plans, develops individual instruction plans, tutors students as needed, and communicates effectively with students and parents. The teacher informs other Academy staff of the progress of each assigned student and participates in extracurricular activities as needed.

• Work a flexible schedule, including evenings and weekends.
• Maintain a valid driver’s license.

• Bachelor’s degree.
• Previous professional‑level experience as a teacher or adult education instructor.
• Georgia Teacher certification or two years of teaching experience in an educational and/or vocational setting.
• Job experience working with "at‑risk" youth.

The Georgia Youth Challenge Program (GaYCP) provides education, leadership, character development, and life‑coping skills to Georgia’s youth so they may become successful members of society. The program targets 16‑18‑year‑old youth who are at‑risk of not completing high school, offering a structured environment that mirrors a U.S. Army basic training experience. Staff serve as mentors and role models, supporting cadets during the 22‑week residential phase and the 12‑month post‑residential phase.
