The Medical College of Georgia (MCG) at Augusta University invites applications for a faculty member at the rank of Assistant Professor or Associate Professor in the Educational Innovation Institute (ELL). The mission of the ELL is to champion excellence and innovation in health sciences education and educational scholarship that enhances learning and develops educational leaders locally and globally. We seek a collaborative scholar with expertise in social science research methods and a strong potential to contribute to medical or health professions education.
This position reports to the Associate Dean for Faculty Development and is a full‑time, in‑person role based at the Augusta University campus. This position does not meet the requirements to be on a tenure track.
- Research – Conduct independent and collaborative research in medical education, with emphasis on learning sciences, curriculum design, assessment, faculty development, or educational technology integrated into the MCG strategic plan and related ELL tactical plans.
- Publications – Publish in high‑quality peer‑reviewed journals and present at national conferences.
- Apply Research Findings – Use evidence‑based strategies and scholarly evaluation to advance curriculum, learner assessment, and faculty development.
- Educational Research Design and Implementation – Support and partner with MCG faculty, Academic Affairs & curriculum, MCG departments, and programs to support rigorous qualitative or mixed‑methods educational research design and implementation.
- Mentor – Mentor faculty, residents, fellows, and students in educational research methodology, data analysis, and dissemination.
- Faculty Workshops – Develop and facilitate faculty workshops that support the progression of research skills from beginner to advanced levels while integrating content on teaching strategies, learning methodologies, and curriculum design.
- Consultation – Provide expert consultation to support faculty in educational research and scholarly activities.
- Committees – Serve on ELL, MCG, and Augusta University committees as appropriate.
- Other Duties – Perform additional duties as assigned by the MCG Associate Dean for Faculty Development.
- Doctoral degree (PhD, EdD, PsyD, or equivalent).
- Demonstrated research experience in a social science field such as education, psychology, educational psychology, anthropology, or sociology.
- Excellent written and oral presentation skills.
- Assistant Professor level – early career faculty member.
- Associate Professor level – mid‑level faculty member with at least five years at rank of Assistant Professor or comparable.
- Qualifications consistent with Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC) institutional accreditation requirements.
- Evidence of teaching ability, scholarly activity, and other duties assigned.
- Successful experience (waived for new entrants who meet all other requirements).
- Desirable personal qualities judged on interview, biographical data, and recommendations.
- Doctorate in higher education, health professions education, instructional design/curriculum, psychology/educational psychology, sociology, or equivalent.
- Experience in medical or health professions education research.
- Expertise in qualitative and/or mixed methods research.
- Experience in curriculum development, assessment, and/or faculty development.
- Experience working in medical education environments (UME, GME programs) with learners and faculty at various levels.
- Background in integrating AI‑driven tools or methodologies into medical training programs and/or educational research.
