Job DescriptionThe Associate Structural Engineer works closely with the Architectural, Piping, Mechanical, Process and Electrical disciplines to design foundations, structures and pipe racks required to support process equipment, process piping, instrumentation and power cable trays, and electrical equipment. Additional work will include design of platforms, walkways and elevated structures, buildings, and foundations.
Responsibilities- Develop designs using reinforced concrete, structural steel, masonry, and light gauge steel.
- Support work delivered from multiple office locations.
- Direct project workflow of engineers, designers and drafters to ensure project completion.
- Interact and collaborate with clients, vendors, and contractors.
- Manage changes in project scope, identify potential risks, and work with Discipline Manager and Project Managers to develop contingency plans.
- Participate in services during construction, including field verification, site observations reports, responses to RFIs, and submittal reviews.
- BSCE or equivalent degree from an accredited university.
- Structural Engineer (SE) designation based on passing the NCEES 16-hour Structural exam strongly desired.
- Thorough understanding of applicable design codes and regulations.
- Working Knowledge of national codes and standards such as IBC, ASCE-7, AISC, ACI, OSHA and ASTM.
- Proficiency using STAAD.Pro, RAM Structural Systems, and RAM Elements.
- Experience delivering projects utilizing AutoCAD and Revit and coordinating an integrated design using coordination tools such as Navis Works.
- Ability/Willingness to climb to elevated platforms via plant stairs and ladders at client sites.
- Good communicator and team player.
- Good technical writing ability.
- Highly organized.
- Must show ownership and follow-through on assigned projects.
- Interest in professional growth.
- Ability to learn quickly and grasp new concepts, especially as they relate to engineering and construction.
- Proficiency with MS Word, Excel and Outlook.
