Plant Automation & Controls Engineer
Sandersville, GA (periodic travel to Langley, SC)
This role does not offer Visa Sponsorship.
We need a true hands‑on electrical/controls engineer who has spent time in a process plant programming PLCs, building HMIs, terminating panels, and troubleshooting 480V motor circuits in a plant environment.
Responsibilities- Design, program, install, and troubleshoot Allen‑Bradley PLCs (PLC‑5, SLC‑500, Control Logix, Compact Logix)
- Build and modify Factory Talk View, RSView
32, and AVEVA (Wonderware) HMI/SCADA screens - Hands‑on wiring, loop checks, startup, and commissioning of new control panels and instrumentation
- Size breakers, specify and program VFDs (Power Flex 525, 755, 700 series), motor starters, and soft‑starts
- Run point‑to‑point checks with electricians and direct instrumentation techs
- Run Cap Ex automation projects across our three mineral‑processing plants (calciner, air‑float, and drying circuits)
- Work directly with 480V–13.8kV power distribution, MCCs, and Ethernet/IP networks
- BS Electrical Engineering, Controls Engineering, or closely related (will consider AS + strong experience)
- 5+ years of hands‑on PLC programming and HMI development in a continuous‑process manufacturing plant (minerals, chemicals, paper, food/beverage, metals, etc.)
- Allen‑Bradley experience:
Control Logix, Compact Logix, PLC‑5, SLC‑500, Factory Talk View, RSLogix 5000/Studio 5000 - Comfortable opening panels, using a multimeter, and directing electricians on 480V wiring
- Willing to be in the plant daily (PPE, hard hat, safety glasses, steel‑toe boots required)
- Experience with AVEVA Wonderware / System Platform / In Touch
- Medium‑voltage (4.16kV–13.8kV) or mining/aggregate/minerals background
- AutoCAD Electrical or ETAP/Easy Power
- Project engineering experience (scope, budget, schedule, contractors)
- Base salary $95,000 – $120,000 (very flexible for the right person)
- Annual bonus
- Full relocation package to the Sandersville / Middle Georgia area
