What You'll Do:- Provide technical leadership, administrative oversight, and day-to-day management of the site PSM program.
- Serve as the subject matter expert for regulatory and corporate PSM requirements, ensuring alignment between site practices and expectations.
- Act as system administrator for MOC, Incident Reporting, Corrective Action Tracking, PHA databases, and PSM documentation repositories.
- Support updates to process safety information, equipment files, safe operating limits, and documentation tied to engineering changes.
- Identify gaps in PSM execution and drive corrective actions to closure, ensuring sustainable improvements.
- Develop and maintain training materials, job aids, and PSM communications to strengthen site PSM competency.
- Develop and report PSM performance metrics (leading/lagging) to local and corporate teams.
- Maintain accurate, complete, and audit-ready PSM records and documentation.
- Provide coaching and guidance to site personnel to improve PSM culture, program understanding, and compliance discipline.
- Support regulatory inspections, corporate audits, and community or professional engagements as a site representative.
- Facilitate or support Process Hazard Analyses and risk assessments, including maintaining the PHA schedule and tracking recommendations.
- Lead or support Management of Change (MOC) activities, including assigning reviewers, verifying requirements, and conducting Pre-Startup Safety Reviews.
- Provide leadership, support, and ownership in the area of Operational Risk Management (ORM) by working with Operations, Maintenance and Engineering personnel to assess and mitigate risks with operational issues
- Review and classify process incidents, lead or support investigations, develop corrective actions, and ensure proper documentation.
- Support the development and maintenance of safety-critical device lists, inspection plans, and safe operating limit documentation.
- Maintain and improve the PSM SharePoint site and digital toolsets used to administer the PSM program.
- Conduct or support routine safety audits, field verifications, and compliance assessments.
- Perform technical evaluations and basic engineering calculations to support PSM decisions, equipment changes, and risk-reduction efforts.
- Provide training during onboarding, periodic refresher sessions and deliver targeted PSM instruction as site needs evolve.
- Support adherence to the 14 elements of our PSM program through guidance and leadership to the Management of Change (MOC), Pre-Start-up Safety Review (PSSR), and Process Safety Information (PSI) processes and systems.
- Coordinate with corporate PSM personnel on program updates, regulatory interpretations, and improvement initiatives.
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Chemical preferred).
- 2+ years of experience in a PSM-covered chemical or manufacturing operations environment preferably in a nitrogen complex.
- Working knowledge of process equipment (piping, tanks, pressure vessels, relief systems).
- Understanding of OSHA and foundational PSM work processes.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work in a manufacturing environment and influence across functions.
- High integrity, strong critical-thinking skills, and the ability to manage competing priorities.
