College/Department Information

The Dental College of Georgia (DCG) delivers dental education through hands‑on research, patient care, and service. It offers three practice models: student clinics, resident care, and faculty practice, serving patients in more than 20 clinics across Georgia.

Job Summary

The DCG requires staff to deliver high‑quality customer service. This role represents that friendly, welcoming atmosphere, serving patients, providers, and staff in person and by phone. Responsibilities include patient registration, appointment scheduling, check‑in/out, payment posting, call handling, referral management, and daily bank reconciliation, all performed in the Axi Um system while adhering to DCG's customer‑service standards.

Responsibilities
  • SCHEDULE: Maintain a productive schedule for providers, prioritizing cancellations and up‑to‑date recall lists; advise new patients on payment policies.
  • FLOATERS: Support the 3rd and 4th floor Student Clinics, specialty clinic vacancies, and call‑center coverage.
  • CUSTOMER SERVICE: Greet patients, update information, verify insurance, collect and post payments, and ensure all patients are scheduled for their next appointment or recall.
  • ADMINISTRATIVE DUTIES: Handle incoming calls from prospective patients; register patients into Axi Um; send welcome letters.
  • APPOINTMENTS AND REFERRALS: Reschedule appointments; manage referral status; generate follow‑up correspondence.
  • GENERAL OFFICE DUTIES: Assist with general calls, patient inquiries, scheduling, and emergency dental needs.
  • REPORTS: Generate Axi Um reports on unscheduled treatment, failed appointments, and recall lists; manage mail merges for patient letters.
  • PATIENT ACCOUNTS: Assist with account access, balance inquiries, and dispute resolution.
  • RECONCILIATION: Balance the daily bank at close of business.
  • OTHER DUTIES: Perform any other job‑related tasks as assigned.
Required Qualifications
  • Associate's degree from an accredited college or university,
    OR high school diploma, GED, or equivalent with at least two years of relevant experience.
  • Ability to provide high‑level customer service at all times.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Front‑office experience in a multi‑provider dental practice.
  • Knowledge of dental procedures and terminology.
  • Extensive customer‑service experience and training.
  • Responsibility for patient schedules.
  • Spanish language proficiency is a plus.

  • Coordinating and scheduling appointments to maximize provider production.
  • Accurate patient check‑in/out and payment posting.
  • Computer proficiency (Excel and Word).

Conditions of Employment

All selected candidates must pass a background check; a credit check may be required for positions involving financial responsibilities. The role may require vehicle use, with associated motor‑vehicle reports, as necessary.

Credit Check

This position requires a satisfactory Consumer Credit check due to handling sensitive financial information.
