Job Summary
Standardized Patient Educator – Reporting to the Director of Standardized Patients, this role is essential to recruiting, training, and evaluating standardized patients (SPs) for health professions learners at the SPEAR Center. The educator will develop training materials, observe performance, and collaborate on simulation event design.
Responsibilities- Recruit and train SPs in patient and healthcare role portrayal for medical interviewing, communication, and physical exam skills.
- Ensure standardization and assessment consistency to meet educational objectives and program requirements.
- Collaborate with the SPEAR team on program development, simulation event design, and evidence‑based quality improvement.
- Maintain documentation and records to support accreditation and program reporting.
- Provide real‑time feedback and lead post‑event debriefs to enhance learner and SP performance.
- Support event coordination, scheduling, and execution of simulation activities.
- Assist with case review and script development for new and modified simulation cases.
- Bachelor’s degree in a healthcare field or related discipline and 5+ years of experience in a healthcare or academic setting.
- OR Master’s degree with 3 years of related experience.
- Familiarity with ASPE Standards of Best Practice.
- Experience coaching, feedback delivery, or performance evaluation.
- Two years’ experience working with standardized patients or simulation‑based education; background in healthcare, education, or theater.
Day shift, Salary range $56,600–$72,200, Tuition Assistance Program, Health, Dental, and Life insurance, Teachers Retirement System, 13 paid holidays, 13 paid sick days, 13 paid vacation days.
