Job SummaryPost‑doctoral fellow in epidemiology, starting Summer 2026, to advance research in cardiovascular disease epidemiology in women as part of the Strategically Focused Research Network on Cardiovascular Kidney Metabolic Syndrome:
Heterogeneity in Women.
- Participate in project planning and development of research protocols and carry out experiments while ensuring adherence to accepted scientific research principles and compliance with federal guidelines.
- Analyze experimental results using manual or computer techniques and, if necessary, develop special computer programs to facilitate analysis.
- Teach and participate in complex laboratory procedures, including bacteriological, chemical, radio‑chemical, serological, histologic and cell culture techniques.
- Coordinate and synthesize scientific literature, summarize findings, and develop derivative applications of techniques.
- Present findings at scientific meetings locally, nationally and internationally.
- Compose articles for publication in scientific journals and review manuscripts prepared by others.
- Work with students, graduate assistants and research personnel; advise principal investigators, postdocs, students and other research staff on techniques, procedures and technological aspects of research.
- Calibrate, troubleshoot, repair and operate microscopes, computer‑linked equipment, dedicated computers and other complex scientific instruments; instruct others in the operation of equipment.
- Perform all other job‑related duties as assigned.
Ph.D. or equivalent in Epidemiology or a closely related field. M.D./Ph.D. candidates with experience and interest in cardiovascular disease epidemiology will also be considered.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Knowledge- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and other computer software/database or willingness to learn.
- Solid background in graduate‑level statistics and machine learning algorithms.
- Proficiency in at least one popular programming language for machine learning and statistical data analysis.
- Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.
- Good organizational skills, detail‑oriented with the ability to prioritize tasks.
- Maintain confidentiality.
- Work independently with only general supervision.
- Complete work and meet deadlines.
- Work with research animals.
Shift: Days, Monday–Friday (work outside normal business hours may be required). Salary commensurate with qualifications within the position range and subject to availability of external funding.
