Job Summary

The duties include but are not limited to: providing individual and group psychotherapy, relational/couples counseling, and crisis intervention to students, including treatment plan development, case management, care coordination, client advocacy, crisis intervention and consultation, and administration and interpretation of assessment instruments. Maintaining adequate and appropriate documentation of counseling records. Responsible for development, delivery, and assessment of new and existing outreach programs that promote and provide practical and effective education and skills for students through seminars, workshops, class presentations and other engagement events.

Strong interpersonal skills and experience working in a team environment. Collaborating with other campus departments/offices, campus committees and student organizations to reduce stigma, increase mental health literacy in the university community. Providing supervision to master's level and doctoral level counseling interns. Additional duties and responsibilities as assigned by the Director or Assistant Director. These may include serving in relief at the front desk and with phone coverage, campus trainings and possible outreach to community organizations and groups.

Responsibilities
  • Provide individual and group psychotherapy, couples/relational counseling, and crisis intervention to students, to include administration and interpretation of assessment instruments, treatment plan development, case management care coordination, client advocacy, crisis intervention and consultation. Maintain adequate and appropriate documentation of counseling records.
  • Coordinate a specific center initiative that enhances intervention and prevention services. Examples are: group therapy, relational therapy, suicide prevention, mental health needs of specific student populations (student athletes, BIPOC students, etc.).
  • Develop and conduct psycho educational workshops, class presentations, and other outreach programs to address preventative and developmental needs of students. Collaborate with other campus departments, campus committees and student organizations. Provide training and supervision to unlicensed clinicians or counseling interns.
  • Attend continuing education programs required for professional license and certification maintenance and maintain best of current professional trends for college and university counseling centers.
  • Perform all other job-related duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications

Ph.D., Psy.

D, or Ed.D from an APA‑approved (or equivalent) Psychology program and an APA approved (or equivalent) internship. Licensure or eligibility for licensure as a Psychologist in the state of Georgia. A temporary or permanent license from the state of Georgia must be obtained by the date of first employment. Two years' experience in the evaluation and treatment of individuals whose age and psychological development are similar to those of our population (i.e. 17‑50).

Preferred Qualifications
  • Prior experience working in a university counseling center setting.
