This position travels between several counties within the CSRA (Jefferson, Emanuel, Jenkins, Richmond, Screven, and Burke), GA and does not offer relocation assistance. Must be within a reasonable commuting distance. If relocating to the area, please specify on the application.

As a Perinatal Public Health Nurse within East Central Public Health District, you will join a dedicated group of public health professionals that support the overall mission and vision of protecting lives of Georgian residents in a variety of ways.

FT Starting salary $60,000.00

PT Starting salary: $36 per hour.

Georgia Department of Public Health Commissioner encourages all employees to engage in regular wellness activities and to make lifestyle choices that promote health and well‑being. A maximum of 30‑minutes in a given workday may be used to engage in wellness activities, generally in the form of two 15‑minute breaks or one 30‑minute break.

Responsibilities
  • Under broad supervision, provides professional nursing care in accordance with nurse protocols, policies and/or procedures.
  • Focuses on the prevention of illness, injury, or disability, the promotion of health and maintenance of the health of populations.
  • Cares for populations with special needs during disasters/emergencies and biological and chemical protocols.
  • Identify high‑risk populations and tailor interventions based on the needs of the population and resources available.
  • Provide home visiting services to identify, assess and provide care coordination services to eligible perinatal patients and qualifying infants.
  • Coordinates program services with other service providers and community organizations to promote optimal implementation.
  • Screen and refer clients to other community service providers.
  • Monitoring per program guidelines, educational instruction, materials to promote wellness, safety, and pregnancy and postpartum complications.
  • Monitor for infant complications to include feeding, weight, head circumference, and developmental screening.
  • Develop a plan of care for individuals and families, modify treatment plans as indicated by client’s responses and conditions.
  • Provide referral/linkage when medical and environmental risks are identified to appropriate services.
  • Promote program through community engagement and outreach events.
