Assistant Professor in Psychiatry and Health Behavior
- Clinical/Research Psychologist
The Department of Psychiatry and Health Behavior seeks a full-time licensed or license-eligible faculty member at the rank of Assistant Professor, to serve as a Clinical/Research Psychologist. The successful candidate will devote the majority of effort to developing and conducting clinical research focused on psychedelic-assisted therapies and related psychiatric interventions, while maintaining a limited clinical practice within the department. The faculty member will join an established multidisciplinary research program and play a leadership role in the design, implementation, and expansion of innovative clinical trials.
This position does not meet the requirements to be on a tenure track.
- Develop and conduct clinical research studies involving psychedelic administration and related psychiatric interventions
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary investigators across Augusta University and external research partners
- Provide leadership and supervision for research staff, including postdoctoral fellows, research managers, research coordinators, research assistants, and trainees
- Mentor junior investigators and trainees in research methods and scientific writing
- Publish research findings in peer-reviewed journals
- Present research at national and international scientific meetings
- Assist in the preparation of grant applications and other extramural funding proposals
- Participate in departmental, university, and professional service activities consistent with faculty expectations
- Maintain licensure and certifications required for appointment and credentialing with Augusta University
- Other duties as required
Ph.D. or equivalent in Clinical Psychology from an APA-accredited program. Completion of an APA-accredited internship. Licensed or license eligible as a psychologist in the State of Georgia. Demonstrated record of peer-reviewed publications and clinical research. Experience conducting human subjects' research. Psychiatry residency training.
Assistant ProfessorEarly level career as a faculty member with appropriate post graduate training.
Required faculty employment qualifications for all USG institutions and all academic ranks within these institutions shall be:- Consistent with the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC)'s requirements for institutional accreditation;
- Evidence of ability as a teacher;
- Evidence of activity as a scholar and ability in all other duties assigned;
- Successful experience (which will necessarily be waived for those just entering the academic profession who meet all other requirements); and,
- Desirable personal qualities judged on the basis of personal interview, complete biographical data, and recommendations.
Preferred Experience
- Experience conducting clinical trials
- Expertise in the assessment and treatment of psychiatric disorders
- Experience supervising research personnel or trainees
- Interest in developing a research program focused on psychedelic-assisted therapies
- Prior experience with grant writing or participation on funded research projects
- Experience with statistical analysis
This position is fiscal year based and works year-round.
The intended work commitment or full-time equivalent (FTE) for this position is 1.0 and considered full-time.
Assistant ProfessorSalary and compensation is commensurate with education, experience, and achievements. The salary is subject to availability of funds.
