Location: Augusta, GA
Job Overview:
Georgia‑Pacific’s Corrugated division is searching for an Operations Manager for our corrugating facility in Augusta, GA. This role will manage a team of employees (salaried and hourly) in a union environment and will be responsible for safety, quality, and production efficiencies. The position reports to the Director of Operations and serves as a succession candidate for a future Director of Operations.
Key Responsibilities- Provide floor leadership to ensure compliance with safety, health, environmental, and quality standards.
- Coach, train, and develop operations personnel in safety, quality, production, problem solving, and technical and interpersonal skills.
- Align operational priorities with commercial business vision, ensuring the highest quality products at the lowest cost in line with customer requirements and company goals.
- Partner with plant leadership to enhance performance, lead continuous improvement initiatives, and develop innovative practices.
- Create and maintain a cohesive team of leaders; provide coaching and development.
- Maintain a positive work environment for all employees.
- Engage on the floor, overseeing plant operations as necessary.
- Supervisory or leadership experience in manufacturing, military, or industrial environment.
- Experience setting and achieving production and continuous improvement goals.
- Leadership experience in corrugated or converting packaging manufacturing operations.
- Bachelor’s degree or higher.
- Experience partnering with maintenance department to meet reliability goals.
- Six Sigma or Lean Manufacturing experience.
- Knowledge of equipment servicing, planning/scheduling, supply chain management, mechanical maintenance, plant engineering, quality, and corrugator/converting processes and equipment.
