Overview

Position Summary: The Asphalt Plant Loader Operator's primary function is to safely assist in the efficient operations of the asphalt plant. The operator is responsible for various tasks involved in the production of asphalt.

Responsibilities
  • Assist in the loading and unloading of raw materials such as aggregates, sand, and asphalt cement.
  • Transport materials within the plant using forklifts, wheelbarrows, or other equipment as required.
  • Ensure proper storage and organization of materials to maintain a safe and efficient working environment.
  • Perform routine maintenance tasks on plant equipment, such as greasing, cleaning, and minor repairs.
  • Keep the work area clean and free of debris to prevent accidents and ensure the smooth operation of machinery.
  • Assist in conducting quality control tests on asphalt mixtures to ensure compliance with specifications and standards.
  • Assist plant operators in operating and monitoring various components of the asphalt plant, including mixers, conveyors, and control panels.
  • Follow safety protocols and procedures to minimize risks and hazards associated with plant operations.
  • Monitor equipment gauges and indicators and report any abnormalities to supervisors.
  • Perform additional duties and incidental work as directed.
Required Skills/Abilities
  • Must be able to pass background and drug testing as required by federal and/or state transportation regulations.
  • Ability to listen, understand, and follow directions.
  • Strong interpersonal and customer service skills with the ability to speak in a professional and courteous manner with customers and coworkers.
  • Ability to remain flexible with work hours and work overtime as required for project completion.
  • Ability to perform manual labor and outside work in all weather conditions including inclement weather, heat and humidity, and exposure to dust and asphalt.
  • Must use Personal Protective Equipment and have a strong commitment to following safety procedures and protocols to prevent accidents and injuries.
Education and Experience

High School Diploma or equivalent is preferred.

Physical Requirements
  • Must have physical strength, balance, hand-eye coordination, and stamina necessary to complete jobs in various areas.
  • Must be able to stand and walk for extended periods of time.
  • Must be able to lift and carry up to 80 pounds and push and/or pull 50-pound loads at a time.
  • Must be able to work in all weather conditions.
  • Must be able to work some Saturdays and at night, when needed.
