The Plant Foreman is responsible for daily operation of an asphalt production plant, including safety, compliance, and quality control.
Main Responsibilities- Embrace the Company’s safety culture, actively support all safety initiatives, and adhere to defined accountabilities implemented by the Safety Steering and Continuous Improvement teams
- Support, promote, and practice the Company’s core values, vision, and mission; follow the code of ethics, workplace conduct, safety, and other established policies
- Ensure the highest standards are achieved and maintained in terms of safety, quality, and efficiency
- Effectively coordinate the day-to-day work environment and staff to ensure safety, regulatory, and production targets are met
- Actively support and lead Company initiatives related to safety and employee development
- Assist with training, coaching and development of employees to perform at their highest level
- Maintain effective relationships with internal/external customers, suppliers, and Company business groups
- Effectively communicate in a professional manner in person, over the phone, and on company radio channels
- Establish plant production schedules to meet supply, schedule, and delivery needs
- Use computer system to enter and maintain data, manage schedules, prepare reports, and respond to e-mail correspondence
- Batch and inspect loads to ensure consistency of mix
- Coordinate scheduling of plant equipment maintenance
- Order and maintain inventory of raw materials supply
- Safely operate company equipment, tooling, and vehicles as needed
- 3 or more years of experience in asphalt production operations and/or related role
- 2 or more years of experience in a supervisory role preferred
- Self-directed, results-oriented, and highly motivated, requiring minimal direct guidance
- Ability to lead and motivate others; prior experience effectively managing a team preferred
- Ability to effectively manage multiple priorities, problem-solve, and work under consistent pressure of deadlines
- Basic computer skills, including use of MS Office products
- Valid drivers’ license and ability to maintain a clean motor vehicle record required;
Class B commercial license preferred (Required)
- Wear and maintain personal protective equipment (PPE) as required
- Regularly required to lift and /or move up to 50 pounds with or without assistance
- Regularly required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel
- Regularly required to communicate (talk and hear)
- Frequently required to stand; walk across uneven terrain; sit; reach with hands and arms and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl
- Regularly exposed to work near moving mechanical parts and heavy machinery
- Occasionally required to work from heights
- Regularly exposed to all outdoor weather conditions and loud noise; including some exposure to fumes or airborne particles
