HP Nurse Practitioner/Physician Assistant – Vascular Surgery – Augusta, GA – SIGN ON BONUS OFFERED
Piedmont Heart Institute is currently recruiting for a Physician Assistant/Nurse Practitioner to join the team at our Piedmont Augusta Hospital. This position will support the In‑patient Vascular Service and includes both inpatient rounding and assisting in the OR. Some occasional crossover may be required in the clinic setting. You will work alongside some of the most respected and highly‑trained physicians and be part of a leading cardiology program that offers a full line of cardiovascular services, including electrophysiology, transplant, advanced heart failure, critical care, interventional, surgical and research services.
OverviewThis advanced practice provider role will be responsible for inpatient vascular patient care, clinic coverage, and OR assistance as needed. You will perform diagnostic and therapeutic procedures, prescribe treatment, and maintain therapeutic relationships with patients. Your responsibilities will include:
- Assess patient and perform diagnostic and therapeutic procedures to assist physician in diagnosing medical and surgical problems and prescribe necessary treatment and services for quality patient care.
- Takes patient histories, conducts physical examinations, writes progress notes, prepares patient workups and summaries noting pertinent positive and negative findings, obtains psychosocial history relevant to patient care, and assumes responsibility for developing therapeutic relationships with patients.
- Orders and schedules laboratory studies and diagnostic procedures. Explains necessity, preparation, nature, and anticipated effects of scheduled diagnostic and therapeutic procedure(s) to the patient, patient’s family, and staff.
- Monitors progress of patients, reports progress to supervising physician, and maintains record of each patient’s progress, consulting with supervising physician when patient’s progress does not meet anticipated and/or predetermined criteria.
- This autonomous Advanced Practice Provider will be responsible for Vascular inpatient care, as well as Clinic coverage, and will assist in the OR as needed.

Minimum Requirements
PA:
Graduate of a Physician Assistant program with current license for the Georgia State Composite Board.
NP:
Graduate from a school of nursing with current Georgia license for Advanced Practice Nursing and a Master’s degree in Nursing.
Strong preference for candidates with previous vascular, cardiovascular or general surgery experience.
