About The PositionTravel Nurse Source is working with Magnet Medical to find a qualified OR RN in Augusta, Georgia, 30901! As an Operating Room Registered Nurse (OR RN), you will play a crucial role in the surgical team, providing direct patient care before, during, and after surgical procedures. You will collaborate closely with surgeons, anesthesiologists, surgical technologists, and other healthcare professionals to ensure safe and effective surgical outcomes.
Key Responsibilities- Preoperative Preparation – Assess patients' medical histories and develop individualized preoperative care plans, verify surgical consent, review medications, and prepare patients physically and emotionally for surgery.
- Intraoperative Nursing Care – Assist in preparing the operating room (OR) environment, ensuring sterile conditions and proper functioning of surgical equipment; collaborate with surgical team members to position patients, monitor vital signs, and assist with anesthesia induction and maintenance.
- Surgeon Assistance and Instrumentation – Anticipate surgeons' needs during procedures, pass instruments, sutures, and supplies as required, maintain sterile technique and adhere to aseptic practices.
- Patient Advocacy and Safety – Advocate for patient safety and comfort throughout the surgical experience, address concerns, ensure adherence to surgical protocols, monitor responses and intervene promptly as needed.
- Postoperative Care and Monitoring – Transfer patients to PACUs or recovery rooms, monitor vital signs and postoperative status, assess surgical incisions, apply dressings, manage drainage devices, ensure patient comfort and pain management.
- Documentation and Communication – Maintain accurate documentation of intraoperative events, patient responses, medications; communicate effectively with healthcare team members, providing updates on surgical progress and outcomes.
- Continuing Education and Professional Development – Stay current with advancements in surgical techniques, equipment, and nursing practices through continuing education; participate in quality improvement initiatives and surgical team debriefings.
