Travel RN - Med​/Surg

American Traveler is hiring a Medical Surgical RN for a renal med/surg unit requiring 1 year of experience and GA or compact RN licensure.

• Active GA or compact RN license required
• BLS certification required
• Minimum 1 year of RN experience required
• Epic charting experience required
• Community hospital experience preferred
• Experience with renal failure and pre/post hemodialysis management preferred
• Skills in respiratory care including BiPAP/CPAP, chest tubes, high flow nasal cannula, and oxygen administration preferred
• IV therapy skills including central line blood draws, PICC line management, and phlebotomy preferred
• Experience with wound care/wound vac and isolation precautions/PPE preferred
• Experience with telemetry monitoring and rapid response/code team protocols preferred
• Medication administration experience with Heparin, Insulin, and PCA preferred

• Medical Surgical unit with a focus on renal patients within a hospital setting
• Adult to geriatric patient population
• Patient ratio of 1:5-6 on a 49-bed unit with an average daily census of 48
• Day shift schedule, 3x12-hour shifts from 7:00 AM to 7:00 PM
• Every other weekend required unless otherwise specified
• Floating required within facility and scope of practice as needed
• No on-call requirements
• Uses Epic EMR (required), Pyxis, and SBAR communication
• First-time travelers are accepted, though charge nurse experience is requested
• Navy blue scrubs required
• Maximum RTO of 7 days per contract, finalized at time of submission
• Holiday coverage required based on number of major holidays falling within the assignment period (Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving/Black Friday, Christmas Eve/Day, New Year's Eve/Day)
• Full compliance required to start on time
• Local candidates accepted at the same rate
• Prior permanent, per diem, or internal staff must be separated from all facility locations for one full year before returning as a traveler
• Returning travelers who were previously cancelled or not approved to return must complete one successful assignment elsewhere before reapplying
