Join a Team Where Safety Drives the Operation
Our client is looking for a Safety Specialist who enjoys being in the field, partnering with operations and maintenance teams, and helping create a safe, productive work environment. This role is ideal for someone who wants to be more than a compliance resource and instead serve as a trusted partner to employees, supervisors, and leadership across the facility. You'll play a key role in supporting daily operations, leading safety initiatives, investigating incidents, driving corrective actions, and helping ensure employees go home safely every day.
This is a direct hire opportunity.
- Partner with operations, maintenance, engineering, and leadership teams to support day-to-day plant safety.
- Conduct field observations, safety audits, and inspections throughout the facility.
- Lead or support incident investigations, root cause analyses, and corrective action plans.
- Assist with emergency response planning, preparedness activities, and incident management.
- Support high-risk work programs including Lockout/Tagout (LOTO), confined space entry, hot work, contractor safety, and permit systems.
- Identify opportunities to improve safety processes and strengthen the site's safety culture.
- Deliver employee training and coaching while serving as a visible safety presence on the plant floor.
- Support compliance with OSHA and company safety standards.
- Enjoys being in the operation and interacting with employees.
- Comfortable challenging unsafe behaviors while building trust and credibility.
- Strong problem-solving and investigation skills.
- Able to remain calm and confident during incidents and emergency situations.
- Takes ownership and follows issues through to resolution.
- Balances regulatory compliance with practical operational support.
- Experience in manufacturing, metals, mining, chemical processing, utilities, power generation, pulp & paper, or a similar industrial environment.
- Background in safety, EHS, HSE, occupational health and safety, or related disciplines.
- Experience conducting incident investigations and implementing corrective actions.
- Knowledge of OSHA regulations and industrial safety programs.
- Experience supporting contractors, maintenance activities, and high-risk work environments.
- Emergency response, fire service, military safety, EMT, or industrial rescue experience is a plus.
- Process Safety Management (PSM) experience is highly desirable.
This is an opportunity to work in a complex industrial operation where safety plays a critical role in the site's success. You'll have exposure to major projects, maintenance activities, operational initiatives, and continuous improvement efforts while partnering with leaders who are committed to building a strong safety culture.
If you're looking for a role where you can make an impact, build relationships across the plant, and help drive meaningful safety improvements, we'd love to talk with you.
