The research assistant will organize and maintain a Drosophila laboratory, perform Drosophila longevity experiments, and handle all lab ordering and maintenance. The role includes supervision of undergraduate workers (paid or credit hours). Work on molecular biology and data analysis is also expected; training will be provided.
Responsibilities- Drosophila husbandry and maintenance of lifespan experiments.
- General laboratory maintenance and organization.
- Supervise undergraduate researchers.
- Molecular biology (RNA and protein work).
- Data analysis.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in chemistry, biology, biochemistry, cell biology, social sciences, natural sciences, life, health care, or materials science directly related to the research area, and experience in a research or clinical setting.
- OR an Associate's degree from an accredited college or university in the same fields plus a minimum of three years' experience in a research or clinical area.
- Experience in molecular biology and statistical analyses is preferred.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office and other software/databases.
- Basic understanding of laboratory techniques.
- Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.
- Detail-oriented with strong organizational and critical thinking skills.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality.
- Ability to use sound judgment and work independently.
- Shift: Days;
Monday - Friday (work outside normal business hours may be required). - Salary Range: $17.88 - $17.95 per hour.
- Pay Band: B5.
- Salary is commensurate with qualifications within the established range.
