College/Department Information
The Department of Neuroscience and Regenerative Medicine at Medical College of Georgia conducts high-impact original biomedical research and translates findings to clinical applications, and educates future physicians and researchers. Research covers neuroscience, cell and developmental biology, endocrinology, and regenerative medicine. Collaborations exist with clinical departments for studies on diseases including neurological diseases (stroke, epilepsy, muscular dystrophy, Guillain-Barré).
Job Summary
A position designed to learn through engagement in an advanced level of scientific technical and administrative work in support of research efforts in the Wang laboratory. Tasks include research data collection and documentation within guidelines and protocols; development and evaluation of new research techniques and procedures; maintaining lab equipment and supervising and coordinating lab personnel and activities. Perform a variety of complex experiments and lab management duties.
Participate in project planning and development of research protocols while ensuring adherence to accepted scientific principles and compliance with relevant federal guidelines. Conduct experiments in cell biology and molecular biology, including activities such as animal behavioral testing, genotyping, ELISA, immunohistochemistry, immunofluorescence, and tissue collection. Analyze results using confocal and brightfield image analyses and, if necessary, develop computer programs to facilitate analysis.
Maintain and update spreadsheets documenting results.
Responsibilities
Responsibilities to include but not limited to:
- Participate in project planning and development of research
Participate in planning and development of research protocols, ensure adherence to scientific principles and federal guidelines. Perform experimental studies (cell biology, molecular biology). May include animal behavioral testing, genotyping, ELISA, immunohistochemistry, immunofluorescence, and tissue collection. Analyze results using image analyses and develop programs if needed. Maintain spreadsheets with results. - Maintains mouse colonies and inventories

Supervise and coordinate activities of students, graduate assistants and other research personnel. Advise the PI, postdocs, students and other personnel on techniques and procedures. - Manages continuous operation of the research laboratory
Manage continuous operation of the lab, order supplies and animals as needed, track costs, update inventory spreadsheets. - Perform all other related duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
