Research Assistant – Vascular Biology Center

Inside Higher Ed invites applications for the Research Assistant – Vascular Biology Center role at Augusta University.

Maintain a clean and tidy lab environment, pick up and deliver research packages, assist in cell culture, tissue collection, and perform assays.

• Mouse colony maintenance, genotyping, and inventory updates.
• Collect issue samples from mice and perform molecular and histopathological experiments.
• Assistance in cell culture, Western blot.
• Frozen sectioning; immunostaining.
• Other duties as assigned.

• College degree (Bachelor’s) in chemistry, biology, biochemistry, cell biology, social sciences, natural sciences, life sciences, health care, or materials science directly related to research, plus experience in a research or clinical setting.
• OR Associate’s degree with a minimum of three years’ experience in a research or clinical area.

• Cell culture, mouse tissue collection, and molecular cell biology techniques.

• Proficient in Microsoft Office and other computer software/databases or willingness to learn.
• Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.
• Detail-oriented with strong organizational, multi-tasking, problem solving, and prioritization skills.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality.
• Ability and willingness to work with research animals.
• Ability to complete work, meet deadlines, and work independently with only general supervision.

• Shift: Days;
  Monday – Friday (work outside normal business hours may be required).
• Salary: $17.88 – $21.92 per hour.
• Pay Band: B5, salary to be commensurate with qualifications within the established range.
• Recruitment Period:
  Until Filled.
• Benefits for full‑time eligible employees include health insurance, dental insurance, life insurance, retirement plan, earned vacation time, sick leave, and 13 paid holidays. Tuition Assistance available after 6 months of employment.

• Successful background check prior to starting.
• Credit check may be required for Positions of Trust or departmental purchase card usage.
• Vehicle reports required for positions that drive an Augusta University vehicle.
• Faculty hires must provide proof of degree and post‑secondary coursework transcripts; foreign‑trained candidates require credential evaluation.
