Job Summary

This position will perform studies on Alzheimer's disease, neuropsychiatric disorders, and the microbiome using transgenic mouse models in Seo laboratory. Responsibilities include feeding special diets, administrating pharmacological drugs to mice, weighing mice, performing animal behavior tests, collecting tissue specimens, and preparing samples for histology and molecular/biochemical analysis. The role also involves participating in research data collection and documentation within relevant guidelines, publishing results in scientific journals, performing molecular biology and biochemical experiments, executing sample processing by microtome/cryostat sectioning, maintaining mouse breeding colonies, observing animals for signs of illness, ensuring compliance with safety procedures, and maintaining required documentation on laboratory inventory.

Performance of all other job-related duties as assigned is also required.

Responsibilities
  • Plan experiments independently and develop research protocols while ensuring adherence to accepted scientific research principles and compliance with relevant federal guidelines.
  • Perform studies on Alzheimer's disease, neuropsychiatric disorders, and the microbiome using transgenic mouse models.
  • Feed special diets and administrate pharmacological drugs to mice; weigh mice and perform animal behavior tests.
  • Observe animals daily for clinical or behavioral signs of illness and provide treatments as directed by veterinary staff.
  • Maintain mouse breeding colonies, including genotyping, sacrificing animals, and collecting tissues.
  • Perform molecular biology and biochemical experiments, minor surgical, microscopic, and statistical/computational analyses.
  • Execute sample processing by microtome/cryostat sectioning.
  • Participate in research data collection and documentation within relevant guidelines and protocols; publish results in scientific journals.
  • Ensure compliance with established safety procedures and maintain required documentation on laboratory and specimen inventory.
  • Develop and evaluate new research techniques and procedures.
  • Perform all other job-related duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in chemistry, biology, biochemistry, cell biology, social sciences, natural sciences, life, health care, or materials science directly related to the research area, plus experience in a research or clinical setting.
  • OR Associate's degree in the same fields plus a minimum of three years of experience in a research or clinical area.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and other computer software/databases or a willingness to learn.
  • Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.
  • Detail‑oriented with strong organizational and prioritization skills.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality, complete work, and meet deadlines.
  • Ability to work independently with only general supervision.
  • Willingness and ability to work with research animals.

Pay Band: B5
Salary to be commensurate with qualifications of the selected candidate within the established range (generally minimum‑midpoint) of the position.
