Job SummaryThe Research Associate will primarily carry out Drosophila genetic experiments, including producing balanced fly stocks, developing new genetic strains, and conducting experiments with various strains. The Associate will also supervise undergraduate researchers and perform molecular cloning experiments (PCR, gel electrophoresis, restriction digest, DNA isolation).
Responsibilities- Molecular cloning: PCR, gel electrophoresis, restriction digest, DNA isolation.
- Drosophila management: develop new genetic strains, husbandry, balancing stocks.
- Experimental genomics: genomic modifications, phenotype analysis.
- Supervision: oversee undergraduate researchers performing fly crosses.
- Master's degree in chemistry, biology, biochemistry, cell biology, or related field plus research experience; or Bachelor's degree with at least three years of research experience and supervisory experience.
- Basic laboratory technique knowledge.
- Basic understanding of laboratory techniques.
- Basic proficiency with Microsoft Suite.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- High organizational skills.
- Highly motivated.
- Shift: Days (Mon‑Fri); overtime may be required.
- Pay Band B8;
Salary Minimum: $45,400 annually. - Benefits: health, dental, life insurance, retirement plan, vacation, sick leave, 13 paid holidays, tuition assistance (after 6 months).
