Research Assistant - MCG-Neuroscience and Regenerative Medicine

A position designed to learn through engagement in an advanced level of scientific technical and administrative work in support of research efforts in the Wang laboratory. Participate in research data collection and documentation within relevant guidelines and protocols; develop and evaluate new research techniques and procedures, maintain lab equipment, and supervise and coordinate lab personnel and activities. Perform a variety of complex experiments and execute lab management duties.

Maintain mouse colonies and inventories. Coordinate with all members of the lab and the PI to keep track of which mouse strains are currently in use or will be required for research projects. Coordinate and perform treatment and testing of mice.

• Perform experimental studies including cell biology, molecular biology, pathology, pharmacology and behavioral experiments under guidance (animal behavioral testing, genotyping, ELISA, immunohistochemistry, immunofluorescence, tissue collection).
• Operate microscopes and imaging scanners, take images, and maintain imaging records.
• Maintain and update spreadsheets, documenting results.
• Maintain mouse colonies and inventories, coordinating with lab members and the PI.
• Manage continuous operation of the research laboratory, order supplies and animals as necessary, track costs and expenses, and update supply and chemical inventory spreadsheets.
• Coordinate activities of students, graduate assistants, and other research personnel engaged in research activities.
• Assist postdocs, students, and other research personnel on research techniques, procedures, and related technological aspects.

• Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution in chemistry, biology, biochemistry, cell biology, social sciences, natural sciences, life sciences, health care, or materials science directly related to this research area and experience in a research or clinical setting.
• OR associate degree with a minimum of three years of experience in a research or clinical area.

• Proficient in Microsoft Office and other computer software/databases.
• Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.
• Detail‑oriented with strong organizational and critical‑thinking skills.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality.
• Ability to use sound judgement and work independently.

Shift: Days;
Monday – Friday (outside of normal business hours may be required). Pay Band: B5, salary commensurate with qualifications within the established range. Recruitment Period:
