This is a technician position at the Savannah River Ecology Laboratory (SREL). The incumbent(s) is/are responsible for assisting current University of Georgia graduate students with field and laboratory research. The technician will be assisting with ecotoxicological research on amphibians and/or snakes, which will require trapping and handling in the field, setting up and maintaining mesocosm experiments, data collection/entry, and assisting with the metal analysis of tissues.
The technician will also assist with some other ongoing projects such as amphibian population monitoring to include collection and analysis of environmental DNA, reviewing camera trap footage, and acoustic recording device files.
- Assist with set up, running, and data collection for ecotoxicology experiments (50% of time).
- Field work for trapping/collecting amphibians and reptiles (25%).
- Additional lab work such as eDNA analysis (15%).
- Data entry/management (10%).
Relevant/Preferred Education, Experience, Licensure, Certification in Position Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and/or Competencies.
Physical Demands- Lift at least 50 pounds.
- Work outdoors up to 8 hours a day.
- Attention to detail, familiarity with data entry.
- Willingness to handle amphibians and snakes.
- Work long hours in wet and/or hot conditions.
