A training position designed to learn through engagement in an advanced level of scientific, technical, and administrative work in support of research efforts in an assigned laboratory. Participate in research data collection and documentation within relevant guidelines and protocols; develop and evaluate new research techniques and procedures; publish results in scientific journals. Perform a variety of complex chemical, biological, microscopic, histologic, surgical, clinical, statistical/computational and dissection procedures.
Responsibilities- Coordinate and participate in research of scientific literature; summarize and evaluate findings; develop derivative applications of techniques developed by own research activities or reported by other research projects. Present findings at scientific meetings locally, nationally, and/or internationally.
- Participate in project planning and development of research protocols while ensuring adherence to accepted scientific research principles and compliance with relevant federal guidelines.
- Study the signaling mechanisms underlying cell–to–cell communication in the brain using patch‑clamp electrophysiology, live confocal imaging, immunohistochemistry, molecular biology, or 3D cell reconstruction.
- Compose articles for publication in scientific journals.
- Supervise and coordinate activities of students, graduate assistants and other research personnel engaged in research activities and/or related laboratory work. Advise principal investigator, other postdocs, students and other research personnel on research techniques, procedures, and other technological aspects of research activities.
- Calibrate, troubleshoot, repair and operate microscopes, computer‑linked analytical equipment, dedicated computers and other complex scientific equipment; instruct others in operation of equipment.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Ph.D. degree from an accredited college or university.
Preferred QualificationsOur focus lies in the exploration of cardiovascular diseases and neurodegeneration, encompassing hypertension, heart failure, and Alzheimer’s disease. We delve into understanding how cardiovascular risk factors influence neurovascular outputs through various animal models.
Preferred ExperienceTechnical expertise in molecular biology, microcirculation, patch‑clamp electrophysiology, in vivo two‑photon imaging, in situ live confocal microscopy, immunohistochemistry, RNA‑seq, and rodent surgeries is preferred, though not mandatory.
Knowledge, Skills & AbilitiesProficient in Microsoft Office and other computer software/databases. Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills. Ability to maintain confidentiality.
Shift/Salary/BenefitsShift: Days;
Monday‑Friday (Work outside of normal business hours may be required).
Salary: Commensurate with qualifications within the established range (generally minimum‑midpoint).
