Postdoctoral Fellow – MCG‑Immunology Center of Georgia (Job ).

Location:

Augusta University. Full‑time, permanent position.

College / Department Information

The Immunology Center of Georgia (IMCCG) is a new initiative by the Medical College of Georgia at Augusta University, aimed at leveraging the immune system to combat disease. The center will assemble biomedical research teams focused on cardiovascular disease, obesity and metabolic disorders, autoimmune and infectious disease, neurodegenerative disease, and cancer.

Job Summary

Aherrahrou's lab at the Immunology Center of Georgia applies in‑silico, in‑vitro, and in‑vivo methods to unravel the genetics of cardiovascular diseases. The lab works with large datasets and collaborates with national and international networks such as CARDIoGRAMplus

C4D and Leducq.

Responsibilities
  • Apply bioinformatics and computational biology techniques, including GWAS, molecular QTL, precision medicine, single‑cell RNA‑seq, ATAC‑seq, and single‑cell CRISPR screening.
  • Study genetics and biology of cardiovascular diseases.
  • Collaborate with computational and wet‑lab biologists for mechanism elucidation.
  • Prepare written and oral presentations of results for the team and the public.
  • Supervise staff and students.
  • Maintain and organize large amounts of genetic data and summary statistics.
Required Qualifications
  • Ph.D. degree from an accredited college or university.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Ph.D. degree in computational biology (bioinformatics, genomics, etc.) from an accredited institution.
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and other computer software/databases.
  • Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality.
Shift / Salary / Benefits

Shift: Days;
Monday – Friday (work outside normal business hours may be required). Salary will be commensurate with qualifications within the established range. This position is partially funded through external sources; continued employment depends on availability of funds.

Recruitment period:
Until filled.

Full‑time employees may be eligible for health, dental, life insurance, Teachers Retirement System (or optional retirement plan), vacation, sick leave, 13 paid holidays, and tuition assistance after six months of employment.

Conditions of Employment

All selected candidates must pass a background check. Where applicable, a credit check and motor‑vehicle report may be required. Faculty hires must provide proof of completed academic degrees and transcripts; foreign‑trained candidates must provide credential evaluation.
