Job Summary

Performs a variety of complex duties involved in a clinical study, a basic science or research laboratory in support of research initiatives; develops and evaluates new techniques and procedures; may coordinate and/or supervise activities of support staff.

Responsibilities
  • Actively participates in lab meetings and stays apprised of related scientific literature to enhance participation and promote better research.
  • Prepares manuscripts based on conclusions drawn from research efforts and pursues publishing.
  • Prepares laboratory animals for surgery, performs surgical procedures as instructed, and assists with feeding, watering, and general care (both pre‑ and post‑operative).
  • Coordinates administrative and technical arrangements of animal models and maintains records related to use as directed.
  • Maintains multiple cell lines essential for assay conduction, ensuring their viability and optimal performance.
  • Utilizes maintained cell lines to conduct an array of assays and analyzes data and results from these assays.
  • Maintains detailed laboratory notes and creates diagrams for comprehensive record‑keeping and potential presentation purposes.
  • Assists in the design of experimental protocols and participates in preparation of media, stains, and reagents.
  • Participates in the tracking and monitoring of budgetary resources to ensure effective lab operations.
  • Uses independent judgment in the daily operation of the lab to ensure safe and efficient use of resources, monitoring compliance with federal guidelines and institutional protocols.
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in chemistry, biology, biochemistry, cell biology or other natural, life, health care or materials science directly related to the research area; experience in a research, basic science or clinical setting, particularly clinical trials research.
  • OR Associate's degree from an accredited college or university in the same fields, plus a minimum of three years' experience in a research, basic science or clinical setting, particularly clinical trials research.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Some previous experience in a research laboratory with Ca2+ signaling in the collecting duct of the kidney.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and other computer software/databases.
  • Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.
  • Detail‑oriented with strong organizational and critical thinking skills.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality.
  • Ability to use sound judgment and work independently.
Shift / Salary / Benefits

Shift: Days;
Monday – Friday

Salary: To be commensurate with qualifications of the selected candidate within the established range (generally minimum‑midpoint) of the position.
