Location:
Augusta, GA. This role is full-time within Facilities Services and focuses on installing, repairing, and maintaining campus irrigation, with potential to act as a crew lead during lead absence.

- Install, repair and maintain campus irrigation; install irrigation for new landscapes or to provide coverage as needed; repair irrigation; provide and maintain campus irrigation watering schedules; perform preventative maintenance; record irrigation as-built; wire training and repair automated irrigation.
- Lead Grounds Crews: participate in and assign tasks, review results, confer with Grounds Foreman or Manager on daily activities, provide safety and technical training, ensure PPE and safety device use, record labor and material information into Maximo, and enter time in OneUSG.
- Maintain Grounds assets: prune shrubs and trees, mow lawns, trim around signs and edges, control weeds, apply mulch and fertilizer, hand-water new plants/trees, inspect for obstacles prior to mowing or pruning, perform routine and emergency tree pruning with JLG Lift as required, monitor manual watering for new plantings, inspect soil conditions.
- Maintain Grounds Equipment: ensure routine maintenance is performed and documented; check oil, filters, tighten fasteners, replace blades, clean equipment; coordinate with grounds mechanic for maintenance/repair; report safety or maintenance concerns.
- Operate Vehicles and Light Construction Equipment: safely operate vehicles, golf carts, mowers, street sweepers, small tractors; operate a backhoe for various tasks; check fluid levels; clean vehicles and coordinate maintenance with Automotive Services.
- Waste Management: remove lawn cuttings, clippings, and debris; remove litter; empty waste containers; assist with packing yard debris using backhoe.
- Clean and Organize Grounds Warehouse: sweep floors, store tools/equipment properly, ensure fuel containers are labeled and stored safely, monitor PPE, and submit requests as needed.
- Performs Related Work: assist with campus events setups, pressure washing, weed and pest control, irrigation and masonry repairs, and painting; uphold university policies and professional conduct; may fill in for Foreman during absences; perform duties as instructed by supervisor.
- Required:
High School diploma or GED or three years of irrigation installation/repair experience with valid driver’s license. - Abilities/Knowledge: able to read location maps and irrigation plans; experience in landscape chemical applications; knowledge of irrigation installation; ability to analyze systems, identify flaws, and implement corrective actions; working knowledge of old and modern irrigation systems; ability to follow oral and written instructions; proficiency with standard tools; ability to perform heavy manual labor; ability to operate and maintain grounds equipment; ability to delegate and review performance;
knowledge of safety precautions. - Skills:
able to work independently and as part of a team; initiative and self-motivation; good interpersonal skills; able to make routine decisions independently.

- Salary:
Minimum $15.77/hour - $18.81/hour; salary commensurate with qualifications within the established range - Recruitment Period: 8/14/25 - Until Filled
