HVAC Mechanic 1 – Augusta University
Join Augusta University as an HVAC Mechanic 1 to perform routine corrective repairs and preventive maintenance on building heating, ventilating, and air conditioning equipment.
Responsibilities- Perform routine corrective repairs and preventive maintenance on HVACR equipment, including air handling units, chillers, heat pumps, boilers, pumps, fan‑coil units, and associated controls.
- Conduct basic repairs of HVACR systems and assist with major component replacement under the supervision of higher‑level technicians.
- Assist in executing HVACR system repair projects, such as replacement of air handling units or emergency repairs to critical units.
- Serve on-call status when scheduled, remaining work‑ready during on‑call periods or rotations.
- Perform any additional duties as assigned.
- High school diploma or GED.
- Vocational training in HVAC or HVACR with 1‑year industry experience.
- Valid driver’s license to operate university vehicles.
- Associate’s or technical degree or certification in HVAC.
- Experience with Johnson Controls Metasys or similar building automation systems.
Shift: Monday – Friday, daytime hours
Pay Band: 6
Minimum hourly rate: $18.85/hour, commensurate with qualifications
Recruitment Period: 11/7/25 – Until Filled

All selected candidates must successfully complete a background check prior to employment. Positions requiring vehicle operation may also require a credit check. Motor‑vehicle reports are required for positions that involve a university vehicle. Employees must adhere to cybersecurity and privacy policies, ensuring confidentiality, availability, and integrity of sensitive information.
Driver’s License StatementThe Human Resources Division will obtain a driver’s history report for the candidate’s final safety assessment. A valid driver’s license is mandatory.
