Inspects, repairs, installs, and maintains electrical systems, machinery, and equipment. Ensures all work performed meets required safety codes and is properly inspected. Uses a variety of tools and equipment, such as power construction equipment, measuring devices, power tools, and testing equipment. Typically requires a high school diploma and Electrician License. Reports to a supervisor or manager. Works under moderate supervision with full proficiency in a specific area of discipline.
Responsibilities- Performs routine repairs on electrical and lighting system components. Tests and checks electrical circuits, equipment, and appliances using appropriate testing instruments. Replaces faulty switches, outlets, wiring, and other common 120V electrical system components such as lighting fixtures, tubes, ballasts, receptacles, circuit breakers, and occupancy sensor relays.
- Performs the installation of basic electrical system components, to include switches, light fixtures, receptacles, fans, circuit breakers, and associated wiring.
- Assists higher level electricians in the execution of larger and more complex repair and installation projects involving service panels, feeders, branch circuits, and specialized electrical systems such as lighting controls, generators, emergency and standby power systems, fire alarms, and motor controls.
- Ensures all work is performed in accordance with the latest version of the National Electrical Code.
- May be required to serve in an on‑call status and remain work‑ready when scheduled for an on‑call period or rotation.
- Perform all other duties/tasks as required.
High School diploma or GED from a recognized State or Federal accredited organization and one year experience;
Valid driver's license and qualified to operate Augusta University vehicles.
Experience in installation, repair and operation of a wide array of common electrical and lighting system components.
Abilities- Ability to maintain confidentiality.
- Detail‑oriented.
- Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office and other computer software/databases.
Shift: Monday – Friday.
Pay Band: 8.
Salary Minimum: $21.83/hour (salary commensurate with qualifications within the established range).
Recruitment Period: 11/7/25 – Until Filled.

Motor vehicle reports are required for positions that require driving an Augusta University vehicle.
