Non-Exempt. FTE: 1.00.
Requires technical knowledge in the field acquired through an apprenticeship, formal training programs, or on-the-job training. Please contact your Human Resources office for an evaluation of education/experience in lieu of the required minimum qualifications.
Preferred Qualifications- HVAC and Electrical experience preferred.
This position will perform skilled trades work on the buildings and facilities located on the Tifton Campus. Duties will include masonry and carpentry work such as pouring concrete, building tables, shelves, etc., repairing broken water lines, HVAC repairs and maintenance, assisting with electrical repairs and other tasks involving the use of heavy equipment.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and/or Competencies- Effectively manage time.
- Communicate and work well with others.
- Ability to take the facility or landscape task given and figure out the best way to accomplish it in a way that is compatible with campus personnel and University regulations.
- Knowledge and skill in operating heavy machinery such as backhoes, sky-trackers, forklifts, etc.
- Ability to read blueprints and schematics.
- Knowledge and skill in HVAC maintenance and repairs.
- Knowledge and skill in working with electrical.
- Crawling into confined spaces.
- Climbing ladders, stairs, scaffolding.
- Standing for long periods of time.
- Lifting variable weight amounts depending on assigned task.
- Driving.

Duties/Responsibilities- Mixing and pouring concrete pads and performing other masonry work.
- Carpentry projects such as shelves, tables, etc. built for specific research equipment or research needs.
- Repair broken water lines.
- Repair roofs.
- Repair plumbing leaks.
- HVAC maintenance and repairs.
- Electrical repairs.
- Assist other tradesmen with completion of various trade jobs.
- Operation of various tools, including small tools, planers, and saws.
- Operation of large equipment, such as backhoes and lifts.
- Assist with setup and takedown of equipment at special events such as the Sunbelt Expo and campus events.
- Other duties as assigned.
