The Material Handler assists in the day-to-day operations of receiving, shipping, and inventory data entry for Dean/Fluor and government-procured materials and equipment. The Material Handler works under the direct supervision of the Warehouse Supervisor.
ResponsibilitiesThis position supports a government warehouse located in Bluffdale, UT. The Material Handler is responsible for utilizing knowledge of operations, maintenance, and repair industry tools and materials to perform logistics tasks such as receiving, inventorying, storing, and issuing materials, equipment, and other items from the Dean/Fluor warehouse and suppliers. The role requires a solid understanding of Dean/Fluor logistics processes and procedures, attention to detail in following logistics and record-keeping protocols, managing inventory, placing incoming orders on shelves, picking materials for internal distribution, monitoring inventory levels, communicating shortages, and providing feedback for process improvements.
Qualifications- High school diploma or GED with 1-3 years of experience as a Material Handler, Warehouse Associate, or similar role in logistics.
- Completion of all safety training courses provided by the company.
- Physical ability to lift packages weighing up to 50 lbs.
- Ability to stand or sit for long periods and deliver materials or tools as needed.
- Inspect incoming deliveries to ensure quality standards and accurately record inventory.
- Pass a USG federal background investigation and drug test, with no felony convictions, and be eligible for security clearance.
- Valid driver’s license with a clean record and ability to meet Dean/Fluor driving requirements.
- Experience with forklift and pallet jack operations; prior safe forklift operation experience is a plus.
- Basic computer skills (Word, Excel, CMMS, etc.).
- Organized and detail-oriented to maintain a clean and organized warehouse.
- Strong communication skills.
- Lift at least 100 pounds at once and 60 pounds for extended periods.
- Relocate a 12-foot stepladder without assistance.
- Work at heights up to 60 feet, climbing and maintaining balance on scaffolds, aerial lifts, and ladders.
- Perform physical activities such as walking, climbing, lifting, squatting, crawling, kneeling, pushing, pulling, and reaching overhead.
- Good vision (corrected if necessary), color vision, hearing, and ability to communicate in English.
- Use standard ladders while carrying tools without exceeding weight limits.
- Recognize potential problems or issues.
- Apply general rules to specific problems to produce logical solutions.
- Combine information to form conclusions, including identifying relationships among unrelated events.
