DESCRIPTION:

This is a classification in the Inventory & Property Management Job Family. Positions in this job family perform inventory and property management actions related to ordering, procuring, storing, distributing, and/or disposing of inventory and/or property. This job family is distinguished by its role in managing public property. This is complex inventory and property management support services requiring a solid knowledge of inventory and property management principles and techniques.

Positions in this classification provide office and administrative support work involving the examination, procurement, display, promotion, sale, and/or distribution of public wares and/or property. Responsibilities require independent decision-making on the appropriate processes to follow, information to process, and actions to take in accordance with standard procedures. In addition, positions in this classification require the operation of commercial vehicles and coordination of logistics and scheduling through electronic systems.

The position will assist with the onboarding, implementation, and ongoing use of an enterprise inventory management system. Supervisor positions are those responsible for supervising subordinates and conducting formal performance appraisals of one or more employees.

REPRESENTATIVE TASKS:

Complies with the requirements of State policies, including those concerning human resource components of security protocols of agency information security and confidentiality policies for state business purposes. Conduct on-site visits to examine, select, acquire, and transport inventory. Operate State-owned commercial vehicles, including box trucks, in compliance with CDL requirements and applicable safety regulations. Operate applicable warehouse and/or stockroom equipment such as hydraulic and electric pallet jacks.

Oversee and/or assist in receipt, transport, verification, staging, and disposition of surplus, warehouse, and/or stockroom inventory. Merchandise, tag, and price inventory/property. Assign quote, bid, and purchase order numbers, and add bid quotations by separate costs. Use a computerized inventory management system to receive, track, manage, and dispose of inventory and property. Assist with system onboarding, testing, data entry, and process alignment related to the deployment of an enterprise inventory management system.

Type varied routine business correspondence such as letters, reports, contracts, vouchers, and agendas from draft or original source documents to revised or final form. Use Microsoft Outlook to manage scheduling, coordinate pickups and deliveries, and communicate across multiple email accounts and shared calendars. Organize computerized and/or manual files. Query for data via telephone, computer, and/or written or oral communication. Repair, service, clean, and/or maintain issued materials and equipment.

May provide ongoing leadership for a work team with responsibility to schedule, instruct, assign, review, and monitor the work. May confer with supervisor on performance appraisals of work team members. Evaluate employee performance in accordance with State of Maine Performance Management and Appraisal System. Coach employees in meeting performance standards. Discuss employee complaints or grievances and determine course of action in accordance with applicable policy.
