Take Your Construction Career to the Next Level! Kleinfelder's Construction Services team is looking for a Chief Inspector in Augusta, ME, Portland, ME or Manchester, NH. We provide Construction Inspection services to a broad range of State, local and national clients and are currently working on many transportation projects in ME and NH.

We are seeking individuals who are interested in joining a dynamic team and building their career in the field of construction inspection. This role involves performing routine to complex field inspections and providing oversight and documentation of construction methods and contractor operations to verify conformance to construction plans and specifications.

Experience with Maine

DOT, NHDOT and Maine Turnpike is a plus. A sign-on bonus up to $5,000 is available for qualified candidates; eligible for employee referral bonuses if hired.

The Chief Inspector will prepare daily reports and data sheets and may be assigned various tasks at the discretion of the owner/supervisor.

• Sound implementation of construction policies and procedures. Direct all aspects of the construction process to meet Company goals.
• Monitor safety, compliance, productivity and workload as needed to maximize efficiencies and cost-effectiveness.
• Facilitate and support the construction process.
• Manage the utilization of resources to ensure safety, compliance and productivity. Monitor workload and re-balance as needed to maximize efficiency and cost effectiveness.
• Ensure that all work is performed in accordance with Company standards and procedures as well as Federal, DOT and OSHA;
  State and Local codes, regulations and requirements.
• Ensure accurate documentation of work including SOPs, work order historicals, daily completion reporting, sketches, Operator Qualification, etc.
• Coordinate work packages to the team and ensure representation on all projects before starting.
• Coordinate all field meetings necessary to progress the projects, including pre-construction meetings, safety meetings, notifications and daily tail-gate / daily safety briefings.
• Coordinate welding operations between CWI and Radiography contractors.

• Personal vehicle and valid driver's license
• Associate's degree or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school with coursework in Building Inspection, Home Inspection, Construction Technology, Drafting and Mathematics. Bachelor's degree preferred, but experience will be reviewed and accepted for this position.
• Preferred certifications: ACI concrete, NETTCP paving, PCI, and NACE level Certification
• Experience with daily reporting using electronic software (e.g., Appia or Field Manager); ability to submit PDFs and Excel Daily Reports with daily photos by end of the workday
• Must have a portable computer for field use and a device capable of taking pictures
• Five or more years of proven managerial experience with a focus on construction policies and practices
• Technical competence to prudently apply and support construction operations while adhering to company policies and procedures
• Extensive knowledge of gas transmission and distribution systems, engineering, construction & maintenance practices, gas utilization equipment, gas metering; familiarity with Federal, State and Municipal codes
• Knowledge of Construction standards, work methods, safety procedures
• Strong oral and written communication skills, plus planning, organizing and computer skills
• Ability to work with diverse groups and to interact tactfully with customers and officials
• Ability to work day or night shifts and to work extended hours or relocate as needed
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel)
