Job Description:
This Technician position will perform a variety of difficult and moderately complex technical engineering functions in support of the construction and maintenance of transportation infrastructure in the field and the office in an independent manner for the Regional Program.
Supervision may be exercised over subordinate semi-skilled personnel performing construction inspection. Work is performed under the general supervision of the Project Manager.
Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:
- Act as an inspector by inspecting, verifying, measuring, and documenting the work performed by private Contractors
- This position may be required to work as a Chief Inspector or Resident on active construction projects.
- Monitor and enforce the contractor’s Traffic Control Plan, Soil Erosion Water Pollution Control Plan, and Quality Control Plans.
- Perform high quality sampling and testing of construction materials
- Assure that work inspected meets the standard specifications and contract requirements and is tested as per policy and meets expected quality.
- Detail, design, and estimate quantities for pavement preservation or rehabilitation projects.
To be minimally qualified for this position candidates must provide evidence of the following experience:
Five (5) years of experience in engineering – OR an Associate Degree in Engineering or a related technical field and three (3) years of experience in engineering – OR a Bachelors Degree in Engineering or a related technical field and one (1) year of experience in engineering.
