The Division of Administrative and Finance Services Corrections Service Center have an anticipated vacancy for a Public Service Coordinator II - Senior Financial Analyst located in Augusta, Maine. In-state travel may be requested occasionally. This position is open to current DAFS employees for transfer to this location and all outside applicants.
JOB DESCRIPTIONThis position is a vital part of the Corrections Service Center finance team which supports the Department of Corrections. You will oversee the collection of restitution and supervision fee payments for the Department as well as overseeing the disbursement of restitution collected to victims. Additionally, you would be responsible for coordination and direct input of the biennial budgets and work programs, working closely with the Department's assigned Budget Analyst.
Other duties include administering funding to County Jail facilities as well as review and request information from the Counties regarding reporting of actual expenditures. You will also oversee the processing of contract payments for the Department's correctional medical account. Work is performed under limited supervision.
- Apply your professional financial, statistical, and programmatic knowledge and analytical skills to a wide variety of MDOC analytic/financial initiatives.
- Interpret policy, operational, clinical, and financial analytic/reporting.
- Translate outcomes into supporting analysis for fiscal impact forecasts, budgets, utilization and/or actual fiscal outcomes.
- Assist with troubleshooting and evaluating work program, budget, and finance related issues.
- Work both individually and as part of a team on various sized projects which might include not only people from within your own Division, but from various other State agencies.
- Collect and analyze financial, utilization, health care and quality data; prepare reports, analyses, and forecasts in support of, operational and budgetary initiatives; and general ledger and transactional claims reconciliations.
- Assist in validating and maintaining integrity of data within and extracted from our data systems.
- Research and analyze internal and external data and monitor macro-level trends to inform decision-making.
- Work with and manage teams from across the Department to improve financial outcomes and operational efficiency.
In order to qualify, you must have an eight (8) year combination of education and/or experience which includes a bachelor's degree in business administration, statistics, mathematics or a closely related field
-AND- four (4) years of responsible experience in accounting, cost, budget and/or financial analysis.
Directly related professional experience may be substituted for education on a year-for-year basis.
