. The position is based in Augusta, ME and offers a salary range of $60,000 to $80,000.

POSITION SUMMARY

This position assists with the analysis of financial statements on all commercial and commercial real‑estate loans, supports the Bank’s loan review and rating functions, and ensures documentation is complete, timely and regulatorily compliant. The analyst also supports residential appraisal and evaluation processes for commercial loan requests and maintains the Bank’s credit standards.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Perform financial statement analysis for new commercial and commercial real‑estate loans and prepare documentation to support loan decision‑making.
  • Review and analyze updated financial statements on existing loans at least annually, prepare reports for the Senior Commercial Credit Officer, Loan Officers and Loan Committee, and discuss any perceived credit weaknesses.
  • Prepare reports for the Internal Loan Committee, Loan Review Committee, and Board of Directors.
  • Remain abreast of current legal, regulatory and other issues affecting credit administration.
  • Comply with all federal and state banking regulations and all Bank policies and procedures.
  • Meet or exceed established objectives and performance standards for the Associate Credit & Appraisal Analyst role.
  • Familiarize with the Bank’s loan policy, identify policy exceptions, and prepare/update loan rating/grading reports.
  • Ensure new loan files contain appropriate information for decision‑making and risk rating; follow up with senior officers as needed.
  • Order and review residential appraisal reports, analyze appraisal and evaluation reports for credibility, reasonableness, and compliance with USPAP, government, and Bank policy.
  • Identify and report deficiencies in valuation products, refer issues to the Senior Credit & Appraisal Analyst or Senior Commercial Credit Officer, and collaborate with appraisers to correct deficiencies within prescribed timelines.
  • Maintain systematic documentation for appraisal and evaluation reviews and monitor appraiser performance, recommending changes to the Approved Appraiser List.
  • Ensure appraisal procedures, forms and files are complete and compliant; recommend changes to credit policies and procedures to enhance credit quality.
  • Serve as a subject matter expert for residential appraisal and evaluation for commercial banking teams and participate in required training and industry meetings.
  • Support Bank products and services, communicate their benefits, and make appropriate referrals.
  • Participate in community organizations, represent the Bank, and attend internal and external training to improve skills.
  • Develop reliable attendance, punctuality, and support other Bank branches as needed.
REQUIREMENTS EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Accounting or Finance (or equivalent work experience).
  • 1 to 3 years of credit analysis, appraisal review or related work experience.
  • Experience with commercial credit underwriting for $1 MM–$10 MM transactions.
  • Construction and emergency & rescue (“CRE”) experience is desirable.
  • Strong analytical, critical thinking and accounting/financial analysis skills.
  • Computer literacy, including spreadsheets, asset/liability management, and word processing.
OTHER REQUIREMENTS
  • Valid driver’s license and properly registered automobile with liability insurance required by state law.
  • Strong written communication and report‑writing skills.
  • Physical ability to lift approximately 20 pounds and to stand or sit for extended periods.
  • Proficiency with computer print‑outs, keyboards and monitors.
  • Excellent telephone communication, listening and organization skills.
  • High ethical standards, confidentiality, and customer focus.
  • Strong work ethic and ability to produce high quality work within prescribed time frames.
