Job Summary The State Government is seeking a Data Governance Lead to design and establish a repeatable data cataloging and governance framework. The selected candidate will support metadata management, data classification, business glossary development, and data lineage documentation to enable a scalable enterprise-wide data cataloging strategy.
Required Qualifications Minimum 5 years of public-sector or government experience.
Strong knowledge of data governance principles and frameworks.
Experience with metadata management and data classification.
Experience developing data standards and business glossaries.
Understanding of data lineage, data quality, and data stewardship.
Strong documentation and stakeholder collaboration skills.
Preferred Qualifications Experience implementing enterprise data catalogs.
Knowledge of metadata management platforms such as Collibra, Alation, Microsoft Purview, or Informatica.
Experience with enterprise data governance programs in government agencies.
Familiarity with data privacy, security, and regulatory compliance requirements.
Key Responsibilities Develop and refine standardized data cataloging templates.
Define metadata standards and data classification mappings.
Establish business glossary structures and governance documentation.
Identify data ownership, stewardship, and governance requirements.
Document data lineage and relationships between data elements.
Collaborate with participating agencies to standardize cataloging practices.
Recommend scalable enterprise data governance approaches.
