Support Neighbors Affected by Local Disasters - Augusta & Kennebec County (ME)

The American Red Cross seeks local volunteers as Disaster Action Team members to provide 24‑hour emergency response to disasters such as house fires. Volunteers will support families displaced by local emergencies, ensuring basic needs are met and connecting clients to Red Cross resources.

• Take required trainings to support families and individuals affected by local emergencies, including severe storms and home fires.
• Sign up for on‑call shifts to be available to respond if needed.
• Show the utmost compassion and respect for all clients and maintain client confidentiality.
• Help connect clients with Red Cross and other resources, including shelter, food, clothing, medication, and referrals to Red Cross Mental Health, Spiritual Care, and Health Services.
• Consider training to assist with larger‑scale national disasters in a variety of basic and advanced leadership roles.

A caring individual who is passionate about the Red Cross mission. Basic computer skills, effective communication skills, and flexibility are required. Volunteer status is needed.
