Maternity & Pediatrics Registered Nurse (RN) – 30 hrs/week, 7p-7a
The OpportunityMaine General Health is offering an exciting opportunity for an experienced Maternity & Pediatrics Registered Nurse (RN) to join our Maternal/Child Health team at the Alfond Center for Health in Augusta.
Maternity & Pediatrics is a department with a dynamic nursing team that covers Labor & Delivery, Postpartum (mother/baby), Pediatrics, and the Level II Nursery.
This position is 30 hours per week on nights and requires weekend, holiday, and on‑call rotation. Schedule consists of three 12‑hour shifts one week and two 12‑hour shifts the next.
The Work- Plans, implements, and evaluates patient care plans based on patient assessment to optimize outcomes and maximize available resources. Monitors, records, and communicates patient condition as appropriate.
- Collaborates as needed across disciplines to coordinate patient care, including patient transfer, discharge, referral and spiritual/psychosocial support needs.
- Evaluates learning needs of patient and/or family and provides patient/family education appropriate to age, culture, condition, and circumstances.
- Effectively delegates patient care to ancillary personnel. May precept student nurses and new hires.
- Active Maine RN licensure or ability to obtain one in a timely fashion, required.
- Previous Mother/Baby, Level II or Labor & Delivery experience required.
- Excellent teamwork, communication and collaboration skills.
- Critical thinking skills, decisive judgment, and the ability to work with minimal supervision.
